The choice of reserve canopies is usually one of optimising the container - and with relation to the main canopy size. When making this choice, you must take a balanced proportion of the canopy sizes into consideration. Reserve canopies and harnesses will be tested under the TSO Standards as a single unit, and with today's valid TSO C 23d we have a very high safety factor. Still, you need to consider that the limits of most reserves and harnesses are 150 Kt. In freefly and speed skydiving we are certainly at the limit!
